সবচেয়ে দূষিত শহরের তালিকায় দিল্লীর পর এবার কলকাতা

বিশ্বের সবচেয়ে দূষিত শহর রূপে তকমা পেল দিল্লী। গত কয়েকদিন ধরে দিল্লীতে দূষণের মাত্রা যে পরিমাণ বৃদ্ধি পেয়েছে, তাতে এই তকমা লাভ বিসদৃশ নয়। কিন্তু আমাদের উদ্বেগের প্রধান কারণ হল, শুধু দিল্লী নয়, দূষণের পরিমাণ কলকাতাতে যে হারে বৃদ্ধি পেয়েছে, তাতে দূষণের নিরিখে মহানগরীর স্থান রয়েছে (স্কাইমেট সংস্থা অনুযায়ী) পঞ্চম স্থানে। নবম স্থানে রয়েছে মুম্বই। দশম স্থানে রয়েছে কাঠমান্ডু।

দিল্লীর বায়ুদূষণ শুধু দেশ নয়, বর্তমানে সমগ্র বিশ্বেই তা একটি অতি আলোচ্য বিষয়। স্কাইমেট (বেসরকারী আবহাওয়া সংস্থা) -এর সমীক্ষা অনুযায়ী, দিল্লীর বাতাসের একিউআই-এর মান ৫২৭, যা যথেষ্ট শঙ্কাজনক। কারণ এই একিউআই-এর মান ২০০ অতিক্রম করলেই, তা উদ্বেগের বিষয়। সুতরাং, এই মুহূর্তে দিল্লীর পরিবেশ যে ভয়াবহ আকার ধারণ করেছে, তা বলাই বাহুল্য। এই কারণে পরিবেশ দূষণ নিয়ন্ত্রণ কর্তৃপক্ষ দিল্লীতে দু’ দিন স্কুল বন্ধ রাখার নির্দেশ দিয়েছে। যে সব শিল্প সংস্থা ক্লিন ফুয়েল তথা নিরাপদ জ্বালানীতে চলে না, তাদেরও কাজ বন্ধ রাখতে বলা হয়েছে।

দিল্লীর তুলনায় কলকাতায় বায়ুদূষণের মাত্রা কম, এখানকার একিউআই-এর মান ১৬১। তবে পরিবেশ বিজ্ঞানীদের মতানুযায়ী, এই মাত্রাও কম বিপজ্জনক নয়। কারণ দীপাবলির পর এই দূষণের মাত্রা আরও বহু গুণে বৃদ্ধি পেয়েছে। অন্যদিকে নির্বিচারে চলছে অরণ্যচ্ছেদন, তাই এই মুহূর্তে সতর্ক না হলে বিপদ যে শিয়রে, তা আর বলার অপেক্ষা রাখে না।
